When Can I Get the Vaccine?

Because initial vaccine supplies in the U.S. are limited, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recommended who should be vaccinated first. This phased approach identifies different groups of priority populations (see example below).

Each state has its own plan for who can first get the vaccine, and how they will be given. As vaccination supplies increase, states may add more groups to receive the vaccine. It’s important to note that CareFirst does not guide or oversee any state’s vaccination plans.

Vaccine Distribution Plan by County

In Maryland, each county or city has its own COVID-19 vaccine plan. To view specific timelines, FAQs and more, please visit each county’s website.
